POST 1: Job Shadow Day: January 6th
I arrived approximately around 10:00 because it is the time everything is getting prepared for it to be ready at around 10:30, because that's the time the restaurant usually opens. The restaurant closes at 10:30 Tuesday-Thursday on Friday-Sunday closes at 3:00 am. I left on shadow day at about 1:00.
When i first arrived to El Taquito to do my Shadow Day, I was really a little nervous because i had never met the owners of this restaurant. the day there went smoothly with no problems and looking around was allright but kind of boring so i decided to start working that same day, the day went alot faster like that because i was actually doing somkething. My mentor's name is Damian and Oralia they both look after me and tell me how to do things arouind there.bim working for El Taquito wich is here in Hayward and there are actually two and heve been telling me that the wednesdays can get a liitle boring and can switch between both restaurants. in both restaurants i will be working by picking up plates from custumers, greeting customers, serving orders, cleaning, and helping out on whatever else is needed. I got this internship by asking my mom actually and she told me that i could actually work in my aunts restaurant and i decided to go to work over in my aunts restaurant, i called her one day and told her about my internship and accepted.

January 22
My first day at my internship in the restaurant was really exciting because i had never actually
had an official "Job". I was excited also because it was my first day and i love to work in any reataurant.
My day started out when i woke up and then i had breakfast, after that i got ready to leave at about 10:30
i start work at 10:00 and get out at about 5:30 sometimes later. My day in the restaurant went a little slow but there was a lot of work to be done at about 1-3 pm it got really full and then thats when all the fun started.
I know i did really well on my first day because i was moving really fast and getting things done quickly and
not waiting to be told what to do. Maybe after some time i can even start cooking and learning the menu wich i really need help on but i guess it will be easy if i work hard on it. For most of the time i was busy but i was bored because i like being like the bus boy and helping customers out instead of stocking the ingredients.

My WLE has turned out to be just as i wanted,in this internship i get to talk with
a lot of people and try to make them feel as royalty as possible for me its a little hard to do
because i can get very uneasy with myself and might forget some of the things they just told
me to do... but i know i have gotten a lot better at this and know thats an issue that i got over
with. Working in a restaurant is actually a lot harder than expected these people have to worry
all the time because if they don't then something will go wrong and if that happens customers might
notice and not come back. Working here under that responsabilaty has really harden me up. Today
I learned that always do your best at whatever you do not mattering if its the smallest and insignificant
assignment because it might turn out that someone is watching you and these small and insignificant
things are the ones that build up your reputation in life. I want to learn how to cook some dishes because
i'm interested in cooking and might be a chef in the future and all knowledge about food is better for my
future.

POST 4 feb 5
Ohh Arhur arrived early today (10:15) ,he started to do the thing that i had been telling him
to do on previous days without me telling him to do it...he really cares about the customers leaving
happy by asking them questions quite oftenly about their food. Arthur is here and he look very clean
and ready to work and looks like he had a very good sleep because he is smiling and greeting everyone.
The things that i think would mostly impress my mentor: im never late, i stay sometimes after my "shift" is
over and dont put it on my hour sheet,i love my internship, and im always willing to work. My mentor
would probably get tired of me being so happy and me being energetic. i would think that
he would want to learn the reason why im so happy, im always asking for more work when it is not
paid and why i stay overtime and arrive 20 minutes early. The first day when i dropped a guacamole
bowl and the day i went to costco and dropped 1/4 of the stuff that would stock the restaurant.

post 6 Grading myself for WLE
For these past weeks, i have really learned a lot at first i was a little unsure if
my WLE was going to be any fun and was really not very enthusiast. when i finally arrived that Wednesday
at 10 ish i was hoping for the day just to go fast so i could go home... as it turns out i learned alot
of things about running a business and how to make it all work. I was put to do some chores like sweeping
and cleaning the table... which was a little frustrating because I wanted to start leaning about cooking some food.
I finally cooked my own CHILE RELLENO witch was great! the ingredients are: this type of Mexican chili that no one
will probably know about, cheese, egg. meat and fire. I really enjoyed working here and I'm glad they put me to sweep and do

post 8 analyzing my workplace
I work with a small anount of staff about 10 employees everyday. I think that working in a small bussiness is actually
alot more fun than working in a big company because everything there is so big that you dont get to know everyone there
and the ambient is more awkward. In my WLE everyone reports to the owner not mattering what it is about. The way that
the chain of command is very easy going and is alot less complicated than in bigger companies were there are managers and
other type of higher ranks. People are happy because if there is a problem it will be solved immidietly because there is one boss.
My WLE consists of people that are of the working class and didnt go to college. i really enjoy working with the working class people
because they are very energetic and positive and are working towards getting something better for there lifes.
Post 9 Cool
Today was very fun like most of the days, alot of people come in the restaurant and get to talk to every single one of them.
In a restaurant you can get to know alot of people. I went to costco and bought everything to stock the restaurant up.
For my project im planning on doing alot of advertising for the restaurant by putting up posters around the area and putting up
some kind of flashing light fixture so people turn as they pass by. How do companies lile coca-cola do commercials that catch
the viewers attention out of thousands of commercials and make them remember about it when they are in the grocery store?

Post 11 Mentor Interview
The name of my mentor is Damian and his bussines location is on Mission Blvd in Hayward CA
And he has had this restaurant for over 35 years. The way he runs the restaurant in a normal week is very simple first on Sunday or Monday he orders over the phone any meat that we will need for the week, on Tuesday he makes a list to see what we need to buy in Costco the day after. Every Wednesday he goes to Costco to stock up on eggs, milk, containers, forks, cheese etc. on Thursday we make any sauces that need to be done and check our inventory. Friday comes and he makes sure that there is enough food for the whole weekend because it gets pretty busy there on the weekends. Saturday and Sunday Work, work, work. He became interested in this at a young age because he loved cooking and his parent opened this Mexican restaurant and it was the perfect thing for him to do so he learned over the years to run a restaurant smoothly and efficiently. If anyone is taking this in consideration they must know what is happening always in your restaurant and you have to make sure you know 100% how tu run it and not obtain help from others that you do not know very well. Do not open a restaurant unless you know that you can jump in the kitchen or be a waiter when needed because in some cases ( friends) did this and did not know how to cook many things in the menu. Do you regret doing this for a living? No because its what I love and I cant get bored with it ever. Have you met a lot of people? Yes to many, a lot of strange people and also interesting people because I have met some celebrities like Pedro Infante’s cousin. The guy that made “ Suavecito” .

POST 13 Hom my WLE is doing
Today at my internship we went to costco but today it was a little diffrent experiance from all the others because they had a special
even today were there were low prices on most of the merchandize and made the store look like an expo also because there was an area in Costco were customers could try some of the food but everything had prices from table cloth to the catering trays were the food was been warmed up, after i snacked a bit from the frozen food they warmed up from the fridge my mentor told us we were going to stck 3x more than usual because of the prices... after having to take care of 3 more carts and unloading everything wich took a while i organized the storage area because of the mess. I interacted with my mentor today shopping in costco and getting organized on who would get what and how much we needed of it...This week for my WLE i created a facebook page for El Taquito so anyone can check the restaurant out...
My WLE project is going to include organizing an annual event wich statrted last year, i need to contact bands, jamba juice, starbucks and others to participate in this event, also my second project was to give create a new service for this restaurant witch is Taco catering for parties and other events, i have to contact many people online to be able to see who could give me the best deal on the taco cart and give the specifications on the phone for the final product ( taco cart) . i haven't set benchmarks for this project but do as much as possible everyday to conclude this project...

My last day at WLE
On the last day of my WLE i actually didnt go to COSTCO because there was an employe that wasnt going to be able to work so
we were one short for a waiter and from what i learned throught my WLE of 15 weeks i was more comfortable taking some of the orders from customers. we actuallt didnt do anything special but i really didnt expect anything because i usually work here from time to time after and before my WLE. I actually didnt do anything but i will by helping with the decorations and other things that need to be done around the restaurant. I actually have all of my hours done so im all DONE !! WOo

POST 1 NOV. 17
My first day at my internship was actually last week and before i arrived i thought i was going to be sitting all day long in an office filing papers, I was totally wrong my first day here was really fun, i met all the employees and have almost memorized all their names. the place where i work at basically, deconstructs houses in order to be able to use much of the materials like : doors, lamps, tile, plumbing, toilets, etc. This is also a non-profit organization witch means that what ever they sale goes to another organization that helps people in need. An interesting thing that happened in my WLE was the care and interest that all the employees and mentor gave me, witch was something unexpected to me. overall i really like my WLE and i'm glad i'm interning here.

I am here at my internship and it seems like its going to be fun because today im doing alot of research and getting to work wich will leave me with lots to do.. I have to to search all over the internet for other companies like the one i work at and have to be non- profit, the reason for this is that we are trying to invite this companies to an annual contest that they have here where people have to use materials previously used in buildings to remodel their room, home or build a storing shed, etc.

This week for my WLE project i analized exactly what i was going to be presenting and how i would do this, photos and other information of the difficulties of my project. The project that i have in mind is serching up many companies online like the one i work where they sale used materials and are non-profit the reason for this is that my mentor Ted wants to expand his anual contest to a national level, the contest consists of people sending in their photos of projects they achieved using used materials.... Now the contest is going to include many companies and these will pick winners from their area and send the photos iver and we will decide who won from all of them. I have actually already started the project and is going really well. To havee all my hours i will have to stay extra days..
